Jewel and Esk College

One of my education clients is Jewel and Esk College, as part of their green initiative they encourage cycling to work. This image was used as a press photograph as well as in their prospectus, it was taken on a very cold day with a pretty bad sky. Not ideal!

University of Edinburgh – Prospectus Photography

Another Education client is University of Edinburgh, I was commissioned for 3 days to produce a number of images that can be used in the Prospectus. Some were planned (like the front cover) others were taken “on the fly” during lectures and classes.

Studio Photography for Mandarina Shoes

This was my first job for Mandarina Shoes and it was not without its challenges. It was basic Hi-Key studio photography but the issue I encountered was trying to make sample shoes (that had travelled from the far east in a box) look like they were in perfect condition. Frustrating – Never! Lots of fishing wire, blue tack, newspaper and a helping hand.

Commercial Photography at Jewel and Esk College

One of my clients is Jewel and Esk College, one of the many educational establishments that I work for on a regular basis. These photographs are a tiny selection of the many I took for the prospectus this year.




Jewel and Esk have a brand new and very professional music section and they are rightly proud of the investment they have made here.
They also run a very successful restaurant on campus which is part of the training of catering students – very nice it is too.





They also have a successful engineering section at their Midlothian Campus training people for various posts but with a specific involvement in the oil industry.

Part of the brief was general shots of student life that can be stored on their image library and called off for future use. I liked the circular windows in this room.

University of St Andrews

One of my clients is the University of St Andrews, they asked me to go along to their Graduation and take some photographs. They needed some great quality images to be used at a huge size on billboards and large exhibition systems. The brief was happy smiling students at gradation, shots that showed the happy emotions of the day and cover a cross section of the type of people that studied at St Andrews.

I wandered around with my long lens and felt a little like a sniper waiting for prey.

Press Photography – Scone Palace

In the baking sun I was at Scone Palace for the press day of the Game Fair which officially starts tomorrow Despite forecast of rain and thunder it was a baking hot day. We were provided with a collection of working dogs and 3 models clad in seriously odd tweed outfits.
